Digital infrastructure for kindness and local trust

A Better Place is a collaborative, non-commercial platform that lowers the threshold for everyday good deeds and strengthens community in neighbourhoods, cities and across languages.

Four pillars

Local trust and less loneliness

Small acts – greeting a neighbour, carrying a bag – become visible and spread. Shared rings grow instead of leaderboards and competition.

Citizen-led care for shared places

With Needs care anyone can photograph and pin something that needs fixing so others can take it on. Hotspots gather efforts around libraries, squares and meeting places.

Multilingual inclusion

The interface is available in 19 languages, including the national minority languages Finnish and Romani chib, and Arabic, Somali, Tigrinya, Persian and Kurdish. Acts can be logged without an account.

Ethical technology and privacy

No ads and no data sales. Location sharing is optional and public maps show approximate, anonymous places – we map good deeds, not people.

Transparent finances

Gifts to organisations go straight to them – the app never handles donation money. Optional app support is reported openly and covers running costs.

We welcome collaboration with municipalities, libraries, associations, foundations and researchers on pilots and impact measurement.
